    About this Position / Responsibilities

    Senior Project Manager:

     

    This position is located in northwest Washington DC for a key government client. Under the general direction of the client's Program Manager, the Senior Project Manager will be responsible for delivering the intended business value of technology investments for their next generation data center in a timely manner, within budget and per stakeholder requirements and expectations.

     

    As part of this client's Cloud Computing and and Next Generation Data Centers, this position’s responsibilities are to control all aspects of assigned projects per client’s policies and procedures from initiation through final implementation and ensure they are are aligned with agency's overall mission, goals, standards, and IT strategy. 

     

    The ideal Senior Project Manager will be a highly motivated individual leading cross-functional teams to execute data center projects ranging in complexity from new infrastructure to integration and migration of legacy network systems. Guide and manage project team with focus on project plan adherence and quality delivery. Has experience in manageing network infrastcuture projects supporting state, city, or municipal government operations interacting with various governement agencies including public safety.

     

    Detailed Responsibilities Include:

    • Managing and controlling projects that are complex, cross-functional and strategic in nature
    • Ensuring that intended business benefits of assigned projects are delivered in a timely manner, within budget and per stakeholder expectations and requirements
    • Documenting and tracking key information such as project objectives, assumptions, issues, risks, milestones, success criteria, and in/out of scope deliverables
    • Creating the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), documenting tasks, identifying dependencies, developing and managing the milestone/task schedule and estimating project labor and non-labor costs.
    • Identifying and mitigating risks, resolving and escalating issues, managing scope changes, publishing clear and concise status communications, ensuring high quality deliverables and consistently satisfying expectations and requirements
    • Motivating and assisting team members, organizing task assignments, facilitating team meetings, negotiating desired outcomes, balancing the needs of Business and IT stakeholders and ensuring high quality processes and deliverables
    • Contributing and adhering to agency IT policies and procedures including but not limited to Project Management, QA, SDLC, Business Readiness, Operations & Support, and Information Security
    • Recommending solutions to address identified issues or problems
    • Partnering with District Government agencies and agency stakeholders to identify and prioritize opportunities to maximize business value and achieve the mission goals
    • Mentoring IT project managers and other staff members as needed
    • Incorporating organizational change management best practices into project scope and schedules as needed
    • Maintain flexibility and adjust to shifting priorities of Governement organization’s requests.
    • Document and train individuals in support of government's project and business planning
