    About this Position / Responsibilities


    We are looking for an experienced Business Development Manager to expand our presence into State and Local Governments as well as Education market (SLED) in Washington Metro and surrounding areas.  The Business Development Manager will be responsible for developing, accelerating, up-selling and closing business with new and existing SLED customers, utilizing existing contract vehicles as well as assisting in establishment of new contract vehicles. The selected individual will maintain the highest level of knowledge about NFF's solutions portfolio, capabilities and contracts while being responsible for the successful execution of the business development plan.



    • Identify opportunities based on strategic portfolio alignment of NFF with customer requirements.
    • Drive relationships with NFF internal counterparts (Capture Manager, VP of Sales, VP of Technology) as well as external Channel and Alliance partners to identify opportunities, develop strategies and execute successful programs across SLED market.
    • Interact and lead discussions with State Local and County Executives, Systems Integrators, partners and other internal/external stakeholders to establish and execute project/customer requirements, address current program issues, and develop long-term strategies.
    • Develop and execute sales strategies and tactics that maximize NFF’s Solution opportunities.
    • Develop a pipeline of activity that focuses on short, medium, and long-term revenue opportunities within Washington Metro SLED market.
    • Propose, coordinate and participate in relevant industry events, expos, symposiums, seminars, pre-bid conferences to foster relationships with key decision makers.





    • Minimum of seven (7) years of SLED IT Business Development experience; working directly with State and County governments and Educational entities within Washington Metro Areas.
    • Strong prospecting, qualifying, and managing skills.
    • In-depth understanding of technology trends and their impact in customer environments.
    • Proven track record of being a clear communicator and being comfortable presenting in front of large groups as well as executive/C-Level decision makers.
    • In-depth knowledge of Washington Metro SLED contracts (e.g. Maryland CATS Plus, Maryland Education Enterprise Consortium MEEC, Virginia Information Technologies Agency VITA, The Virginia Association of State College and University Purchasing Professionals VASCUPP, DC Government Supply Schedule DCSS, etc.)
    • Ability to recognize, analyze, and take-action on go to market approaches, joint value propositions, and business cases around strategic partnerships.
    • Ability to follow through and meet deadlines.
    • Goal-oriented, team player, and ability to delegate to team members.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication and time management skills. A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in relevant fields.
